Frequently asked questions
This is what we get asked most often.
If your question isn't here: give us a call or drop us a line. We usually answer the same day.
Arriving and leaving
In and out
How do I get into the apartment?
Through a keypad on the front door. You get the code and a short explainer video
by email a week before you arrive. There is no key handover and nobody
you have to wait for.
When can I arrive, and when do I have to be out?
Check-in from 4 pm, check-out by 11 am. Because check-in is by door code,
it makes no difference whether you turn up at 5 pm or at midnight.
Can I arrive earlier?
Often yes – but only if nobody is checking out the day before. Just ask a few days
ahead and we'll give you a firm answer. We can't promise it.
Can I park?
Yes, free of charge. In Bielstein one parking space right by the house comes with the apartment.
For a second car, let us know beforehand – a five-minute walk away, opposite the Netto
supermarket, there is also a free car park with no time limit. At the Sonnenterrasse free on the street directly opposite.
The apartments
Space, beds, what's provided
How many people does it sleep?
Up to six in the apartment in Bielstein: four in two double beds, two on the
large sofa bed in the living room. The Sonnenterrasse in Wiehl is for two people.
Who sleeps where?
If there are two of you, you each get your own bedroom in Bielstein. With three, the
sofa bed in the living room comes in as well – so everyone still sleeps on their own. From four
people up, two of you share a double bed. We'd rather tell you that beforehand than afterwards.
Are bed linen and towels included?
Yes, for everyone and at no extra charge. The beds are made up, and there is one
large bath towel and one hand towel per person. From four nights (for example Monday to Friday)
each guest gets a second set as well – also at no extra charge.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, in every room and without a time limit. The login details are posted in the apartment.
Can I do laundry?
In Bielstein yes: washing machine and dryer are in the utility room and can be
used around the clock. At the Sonnenterrasse there is a washing machine, but no
dryer.
Is there a kitchen?
Both apartments have their own fully equipped kitchen – with crockery, pots,
a coffee machine and everything you need for cooking. Not a hotel room where you're
left wondering every evening where to go and eat.
With children
Cot, high chair, prices
Is there a cot and a high chair?
Yes, both – and both free. But we only set them up if you tell us
beforehand. Just mention it when you book or give us a quick call.
Do children pay too?
From the age of three, yes, like adults – children then count towards the number of guests
and the price. Babies and toddlers under three sleeping in a travel cot are free and do not
count. Just mention them under “Nachricht an den Vermieter” (message to the host) when you
book, and the cot will be ready.
Are pets allowed?
No, not in either apartment. That applies without exception – we'd rather say it
beforehand than have someone standing at the door with a dog.
Is smoking allowed?
Not inside the apartment, and no e-cigarettes either. Outside is fine: in Bielstein on the terrace, at the
Sonnenterrasse in Wiehl on the terrace too. Ashtrays are provided.
Prices and booking
What costs what
What does the final cleaning cost?
If you book direct through this site: nothing. It is included in the price.
If you book through a portal, you are charged for the cleaning.
Why should I book direct with you?
Because it's cheaper for you and less is taken off at our end. On a
booking portal you pay for a middleman you don't need at all – you already
know where you want to go. And if something comes up, you talk to us directly instead of to
a customer service desk.
Is a longer stay worth it?
Yes, quite a bit. Book direct and you pay 10% less from seven nights and 25% less
from 28 nights – on the whole stay, final cleaning included. An example: four weeks in
January 2027 in Bielstein come to €2,293.50 for two, around €82 per night for the whole
apartment. The calendar shows you the price for your dates straight away.
More on that under Temporary housing.
We're a wedding party – is that possible?
Yes, gladly – we get that a lot. How it works and which party venues are nearby
is on the page
Accommodation for wedding guests.
Round here
What you can do from here
What's worth visiting nearby?
- Panarbora in Waldbröl, with treetop walkway and play area – 20 km, just under half an hour.
- Schloss Homburg in Nümbrecht, museum and events – 8.7 km, around 11 minutes.
- Wiehler Tropfsteinhöhle – a few minutes by car.
- The Bergische Bierweg starts right outside the door in Bielstein: a 13.4 km circular route from Bahnhofsplatz.
Can you manage without a car?
In Bielstein yes. The bus station is within walking distance, the baker and the shops
are in the village. For trips into the surrounding area a car is a lot more convenient, though.
Where can you go out to eat here?
In Bielstein itself there are several places within walking distance. There's a list of our
own recommendations in the apartment – we put it together
ourselves and didn't copy it from anywhere.
